Vukoje Cellars 1982 excelled in New York – four gold medals at the NYIOOC are a confirmation of the top quality of olive oil from Herzegovina.

Herzegovinian olive oil at the top of the world: Four gold medals for 'Vukoje Cellars 1982'

Olive growing in Herzegovina is growing strongly, and the quality of domestic oils is confirmed by the results from world competitions, among which the success of the "Vukoje Cellar 1982" stands out, which won four gold medals at one of the world's most prestigious olive oil evaluations. The best result in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region at the world's largest olive oil judging, the NYIOOC (New York International Olive Oil Competition), was achieved this year by "Vukoje Cellars 1982".

As many as four of their olive oils, Leccino, Frantoio, Bianchera and Selekcija, were awarded the highest recognition, the gold medal, along with the title of Award Winner and a top rating. With this success, "Podrumi Vukoje 1982" further improved their result at this prestigious competition and, after two gold medals won in 2025, they won as many as four this year, thus confirming their status as the leading domestic and regional producer of olive oils.

On this occasion, Radovan Vukoje, owner and director of "Vukoje 1982 Cellar", pointed out that these awards are a great recognition, but also an obligation for further improvement. "We strive for top quality, which is why we harvest earlier. The yield is lower, but the oil is richer, more aromatic and of higher quality. Our olive groves are organically grown and were planted 15 years ago. The olive grove in Zasad polje is the first plantation olive grove in this part of Herzegovina, with more than 1,000 trees. We believe that these awards will further draw attention to our work and encourage the authorities to provide stronger support to the development of olive growing. Ten years ago, there were only 80 hectares under olive trees, while last year more than 120,000 trees grew on more than 500 hectares," Vukoje emphasized.
