In the Ethno Village Herceg in Medjugorje, the first festival "Žilavka terroir 2025" was held last night, an event dedicated to the top Herzegovinian wine variety – Žilavka. The event was organized by the BLAŽ Enology Association in partnership with the Brotnjo Association of Businessmen and with the support of the Municipality of Čitluk and the Ministry of Tourism of the FBiH.

The central accent of the evening was the autochthonous Žilavka, presented through different oenological styles that confirm its development and potential. Terroir, as a combination of natural and traditional factors, is highlighted as the key to its identity and international reputation, and awards from world evaluations further confirm its importance for the Herzegovinian wine region.

The Minister of Transport and Communications in the Government of the FBiH, Andrijana Katić, pointed out that this event represents an important step forward for Herzegovina, not only in the promotion of top wines, but also in the creation of a strong identity based on tradition, quality and togetherness.

She emphasized that Žilavka, as an authentic variety and symbol of the Herzegovinian climate, is deservedly receiving more and more attention on the domestic and international scene. She especially emphasized the contribution of winemakers who, with their dedicated work, put Herzegovina on the map of recognizable wine regions, pointing out that "they have poured the power of Herzegovinian stone, the warmth of the sun and all the love for the vine into their glasses".
